Candidacy Evaluation
Most people are candidates. Here is what we evaluate and how we can help if you are not quite ready.
Candidacy Factors
Healthy gums and sufficient bone are the most important factors. Active gum disease or untreated tooth decay must be addressed before implant surgery.
Adequate jawbone is needed to support implants. If bone loss has occurred, bone grafting can rebuild the area. We offer same-visit CBCT scanning to evaluate bone.
Conditions like uncontrolled diabetes, autoimmune disorders, or bisphosphonate use may affect healing. We work with your doctor to optimize your health before surgery.
Age alone is never a barrier. We regularly treat patients in their 70s, 80s, and 90s. Overall health and bone quality matter far more than chronological age.
Smoking slows healing and increases complication risk. Smokers can still get implants but should expect longer healing times. We recommend reducing or quitting before surgery.
